Among my favorites is Brothers Karamazov, also by Dostoyevsky (his name is spelled several ways in English including the way Anwar D spelled it)in English translation of course, by Constance Garnett. :thumbsup /images/_common/forums/emoticons/' }

My favorite books are by Oscar Wilde, "The Picture of Dorian Grey", Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World", Dostoyevsky's "Crime and Punishment", Plato's "Republic" and Victor Hugo's "The Hunchback of Notre Dame". I know you only said one, but I couldn't help myself. . . I am a bibliophile (lover of books). :thumbsup /images/_common/forums/emoticons/' }

Mysteries, suspense/horror books. Stephen King would be my favorite. Dan Brown is another. I actually took the time to read all of the Sherlock Holmes stories too.

The Dark Tower series by Stephen King was really good. Although for me it started a little slow. It is well worth the time to read through these books.

The Green Mile was originally written as a series of short books and was good from start to finish. Even though some of the books Stephen King and now Dan Brown too have written have been turned into decent movies, they are no substitute for reading the whole story in the book :twocents /images/_common/forums/emoticons/' }

There are so many different genres of books I can't limit my favorites to just one book or Author. I agree with Terry Goodkind for the Sword of Truth series. Excellent Fantasy books! The Gourmet Foreplay cookbook/how to manual combines my two favorite things in the world, sex and food! LOL The Swan series by Celeste DeBlases. The Vampire Chronicles and the Witches books by Anne Rice before she was born again. Intensity by Dean Koontz keeps me reading late each time I read it. All of Janet Evanovich number series just because they are a fun quick read. The list goes on and on. /images/_common/forums/emoticons/' }

The mention of The Portrait of Dorian Gray brings to mind my two favorite plays of his: The Importance of Being Ernest and Lady Windemere's Fan. Both are comedies about identity and societal morals. Interesting topics given Wilde's history.

And I agree with Anwar D, it is good to see so many people reading and the classics no less. :thumbsup /images/_common/forums/emoticons/' }
